Senior Principal Lawyer - Native Title & Resources THE ROLE Our client, a leading government organisation, has engaged us to assist with the appointment of a Senior Principal Lawyer in the Native Title & Resources team. This permanent role based in Brisbane CBD, is ideal for an experienced legal professional ready to take on complex and high-impact Native Title and resources law matters at an SO level (Special Counsel).If you're seeking a stable, career-building role in government, where you can work on significant legal projects while enjoying a balanced work environment, this could be the perfect match! Responsibilities include: Providing expert legal advice on the Native Title Act, Indigenous Land Use Agreements, cultural heritage agreements, and resources law. Managing complex litigation, mediation, and negotiation for native title determination applications in the Federal Court. Representing the government in compensation applications, cultural heritage cases, and other high-stakes matters. Offering guidance to junior lawyers, contributing to team and client service objectives, and supporting senior leadership when required. ABOUT YOU The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes: Admission as a legal practitioner in Queensland with substantial experience in Native Title law. Proven ability to deliver high-level advice on the Native Title Act 1993, Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2003, and related legislation. Excellent communication skills, including advanced drafting and negotiation abilities. A collaborative approach and a commitment to providing exceptional client service.
