THE ROLE Senior Policy Officer An exciting opportunity exists for a committed and passionate individual to join the Office for Youth as a Senior Policy Officer.
This role will primarily be responsible for managing key funded initiatives to strengthen youth engagement, build social cohesion and support families and communities to build protective factors against youth disengagement and its consequences.
You will also work across a variety of areas in the Youth portfolio to provide high-quality strategic analysis and policy advice from a whole of government perspective to the Minister for Youth, the Secretary and Senior DFFH executives.
We are seeking a candidate who is flexible, well organised and a supportive team player who can build relationships across government and community sectors, young people and with community members.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong policy and analytical skills, a strong understanding of program management, monitoring and outcomes measurement, along with an interest in the issues impacting young people across Victoria.
This position will have responsibility for a range of policy, project and stakeholder management matters in relation to the Youth portfolio, young people and the youth sector in Victoria.
The role includes oversight of the Victorian Government's implementation of Our Promise Your Future, Victoria's Youth Strategy 2022-2027. In this role, you will consult across government to monitor implementation of a broad range of initiatives, conduct research and data analysis, support engagement with young people and the youth sector, develop reporting materials, and provide strategic advice to the Minister for Youth and senior executives.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE Provide analysis and expert advice to the Minister for Youth, the Secretary and senior executives on a wide range of matters of strategic and/or critical impact on policy and program implementation in relation to young people and the youth sector in Victoria.
This includes analysing and critically evaluating information and proactively identifying potential implications and risks of proposed policy or program options.Provide clear, timely, accurate, succinct and solution-focused written and verbal briefings, correspondence and reports, on a range of policy and program issues affecting young people.Manage programs including developing business cases, managing grant payments and establishing strong relationships with funded stakeholders to support ongoing monitoring and evaluation processes.HOW TO APPLY All VPS employees (and ex-VPS employees with extended access to the Jobs and Skills Exchange website) MUST apply via the Jobs and Skills Exchange portal.
