As an APS 6 Senior Policy Officer in the Commonwealth State Engagement Branch, you will help the Director and Assistant Director to develop strategic policy advice and assist in a wide variety of work to promote positive Commonwealth-State relations and progress key reform policies.
You will be exposed to the strategic arm of Government including assisting in the development of advice to the Senior Executive and the Government.

You will contribute to a range of briefings and other policy processes, including development of Cabinet Submissions, New Policy Proposals, policy papers, and gather intelligence from a range of stakeholders.
You will support your team to build and nurture productive relationships with stakeholders, including across Commonwealth agencies, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), and state and territory governments.
You will be exposed to the strategic oversight of the NDIS reforms and understand how this intersects with the broader reform agenda, including negotiations with state and territory governments.

You will support the Assistant Director and Director, and may be responsible for mentoring fellow team members, including supervising and building staff capability in a positive and flexible working environment.
There are multiple opportunities at the APS 6 level.
Opportunities are available in Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, and Adelaide.
The key duties of the position include:Provide advice on complex matters relating to disability and NDIS reform.Help to build and maintain positive relationships within the department, and with the NDIA, Central Agencies, other Commonwealth Departments and state and territory governments who all have a role to play in progressing the NDIS and broader disability system reform agenda.Contribute to the development of policy papers, governance papers, talking points and briefing material to support the Commonwealth to engage with states and territories.Represent the Department at meetings with internal and external stakeholders, helping to foster positive relationships.Draw linkages and identify insights from a range of sources.Prepare for, and support, multilateral and bilateral meetings with state and territory governments, as required.Manage and prioritise workloads for self and others while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.Be responsive and flexible in a fast-paced reform environment, managing priorities to achieve key outcomes.Please review job pack for the full position description.
