Department of Primary Industries and Regions Job reference: 589034 Location: 5024 - WEST BEACH Job status: Ongoing Eligibility: Open to Everyone We have an opportunity for a Senior Policy Officer to be part ofour Fisheries and Aquaculture Division within the Department ofPrimary Industries and Regions. The Senior Policy Officer is responsible for providing support toand leading the delivery of key legislative and regulatory reformpolicy and management projects, in close consultation andengagement with the Fisheries and Aquaculture senior managementteam, industry and other stakeholders. The role will lead and recommend policy and management directionsthat ensure the long-term sustainability of the State'saquatic resources, in accordance with the objectives of the Aquaculture Act 2001 and the Fisheries Management Act2007 . The role will research, develop, and implement sound aquacultureand fisheries management policies and initiatives that areconsistent with legislative frameworks. The role will provide high quality written and verbal briefingadvice to the Executive Director, Fisheries and Aquaculture, andthe Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development in anaccurate and timely manner. The incumbent needs to work in a highly collaborative andconsultative manner on a range of issues relating to thesustainable management of aquatic resources. The incumbent will be required to undertake emergencymanagement training and must be willing to participate inemergency preparedness, response and recovery activitiesrequired by government agencies.
