Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development NSW – Orange NSW Dynamic opportunity to join a collaborative and high performing team Ongoing full time role, 35 hours per week Location: Open to candidates across all NSW locations with flexible working supported Clerk Grade 9/10 | Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $120,859pa - $133,183pa + super The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) is dedicated to growing primary industries and supporting regional economic development to deliver long term benefits to the state. Our focus is to protect, support and develop our primary industries, mining sector, and regions. DPIRD brings together Agriculture and Biosecurity; Fisheries and Forestry; Local Land Services; NSW Resources; Regional Development and Delivery; the Regional Growth NSW Development Corporation; NSW Public Works and Soil Conservation Service. What You'll be doing As a Senior Policy Officer , you'll provide high level strategic advice, conduct in depth research, and lead the development and review of key policies. Your expertise will inform crucial decisions for primary industries, ensuring NSW remains at the forefront of innovation and sustainability. This role involves collaboration across government, with partnerships extending to other jurisdictions, industry, and the community. The successful candidate will grow and strengthen trusting relationships within the Department and across NSW government agencies, building connections that drive meaningful policy outcomes. Lead Policy Development: Drive the creation of strategic policies, providing briefings and advice for Ministerial and Departmental Executive priorities. Analyse and Advise: Review policies and regulations, delivering insights that shape the future of NSW primary industries. Support Legislative Programs: Assist in delivering Cabinet, legislative, and regulatory agendas. Communicate & Represent: Prepare detailed briefings, reports and submissions, and represent NSW in state and national policy discussions. What's in it for me?
