Organisation: Department of Premier and CabinetOccupation: PolicyReference: VG/VG/1800623An exciting and unique opportunity exists for talented and passionate individuals to join the Policy, Communication and Coordination Branch as Senior Policy Officer to contribute to the ground-breaking work of the Group in the areas of truth, treaty, self-determination and cultural rights.The Policy, Communication and Coordination Branch sits within the Self Determination Policy and Transformation Division and leads and facilitates a whole-of-government approach on Aboriginal affairs to improve outcomes for First Peoples.As the Senior Policy Officer you will develop and provide strategic, clear, evidence-based and solution-focussed policy advice to DPC executives, the Minister for Treaty and First Peoples, and the Premier on a range of First Peoples self-determination policy and project priorities. You will also prepare correspondence, briefings, Cabinet submissions and reports on sensitive issues to a high standard within tight timelines for the Minister for Treaty and First Peoples, the Premier, Secretary and executives.About youAs our ideal candidate, you will have:Understanding and awareness of Aboriginal self-determination reform priorities for Victorian Aboriginal communitiesStrong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skillsHighly developed interpersonal and negotiation skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare complex briefs, submissions, letters, reports and correspondenceProven ability to initiate, deliver and manage strategic projects on time and to a high standardPlease note that experience working with Aboriginal communities and organisations is a mandatory requirement of this role.Working with us, you can make a difference not just in your career, but in the community where you work and live.This position is only open to applicants with relevant rights to work in Australia.How to applyApply before the advertised closing date.
