A unique opportunity exists for a talented and passionate individual to join the Aboriginal Land Rights team as Senior Policy & Project Officer. This role will contribute to the ground-breaking work of the Group in the areas of truth, Treaty, self-determination and cultural rights. The First Peoples - State Relations Group supports an extensive program of priority work with First Peoples, applying a strong understanding of self-determination to our work practices and in providing clear and robust advice to the Minister for Treaty and First Peoples, Premier, Cabinet and senior executives within the Group. As the Senior Policy & Project Officer, you will lead production of and deliver high quality, strategic, clear, evidence-based and solution-focussed policy advice and work outputs for the branch and departmental senior executives, Ministers and the Premier. You will also support delivery of a whole-of-government approach to Treaty in Victoria, by ensuring opportunities to progress Treaty are realised, and developing and coordinating stakeholder discussions and forums. About You As our ideal candidate, you will have: Ability to take ownership of work, adapting systems and processes quickly to changed priorities and situations Ability to deliver work outputs with high autonomy to a high quality to meet agreed outcomes, timelines and standards Understanding of systemic State intersections with marginalised or vulnerable groups Strong critical thinking skills Understanding of the cultural, political and organisational context of Treaty in engagement with stakeholders and advice provision Please note that an understanding, experience and commitment to the rights of First Peoples in Victoria, including cultural rights, self-determination, Treaty and truth is expected in this role.
