The role As a Senior Policy and Project Officer , your role is to provide strategic policy advice and coordination, along with conducting complex research and analysis. You will manage and coordinate policy development, prepare briefings, and provide advice to the Department, Minister, and other agencies. This role is designed to help in the development, implementation, and review of policies and projects related to the use and management of land and natural resources in NSW. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting legislative and strategic reform programs, undertaking research, and liaising with stakeholders to identify and resolve emerging issues.
In this role, you'll be challenged with providing high-level policy advice and pragmatic solutions within tight timeframes, while aligning with the Department's Corporate Plan and broader government policies. You will also need to link emerging government policies on land and natural resources with inputs from technical areas across Crown Lands and the Department, and work with multiple stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of key reform programs and initiatives.
What you will bring to the role Strong problem-solving abilities to navigate complex challenges and adapt to evolving situations. Outstanding stakeholder engagement skills, fostering strong relationships and ensuring alignment with diverse stakeholders to achieve outcomes. Solid time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines efficiently. Analytical thinking and attention to detail to thoroughly review policies and regulatory frameworks, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Ability to conduct thorough research and analysis to support policy development and provide informed advice to stakeholders. Cultural awareness and sensitivity to effectively engage with diverse communities and stakeholders, ensuring inclusive and respectful interactions. Key knowledge and experience Detailed knowledge and expertise in policy development, implementation and review and ability to understand and interpret a wide variety of legislation and legislative and policy processes. Broad understanding of land and natural resource issues and relevant policy and legislative framework.
