Your Role Exciting opportunity to join the Policy and Advocacy  team as a Senior Advisor. Part of the Strategy and Engagement Directorate, you will lead the organisation's policy development, advocacy and research to influence public policy on systemic issues which impact the people we assist. Use your ability to foster collaborative relationships and to mobilise and empower community members to advocate decision-makers to create a more just and compassionate society.
Your Responsibility Develop and communicate informed policy positions and advice based on data analysis, primary and secondary research, and consultation. Develop high-quality policy and advocacy resources to inform the Society's policy and advocacy objectives with Government (submissions, briefing papers, toolkits, factsheets, reports, correspondence, online resources). Prepare briefs, reports, resource materials, correspondence and presentations to assist in the Societies Government Relations activity. Manage research projects to inform and enhance our service delivery and shape public policy to improve the lives of the people we assist. Develop and deliver state-wide advocacy strategies and campaigns. Develop and implement strategies to increase the involvement of members, staff, volunteers and supporters in advocacy for social justice, and maximise their impact. Grow and develop social justice champions using community organising, influencing and coaching techniques. Develop and deliver impactful events and training modules on social justice issues and advocacy . Work collaboratively with key government and non-government agencies regarding policy issues relevant to the Society's service provision. You Will Need Relevant tertiary qualification/s and experience in public policy development, systemic advocacy, research, and/or community engagement. High level research and analytical skills with the ability to synthesise information from a wide range of sources into clear policy positions and recommendations. Ability to develop and implement advocacy strategies based on sound political judgement, collaboration and engagement. Demonstrated capacity to build meaningful and productive relationships with a wide range of individuals and organisations. High level interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex messages in an accessible and engaging manner. Well-developed project and event management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously to meet deadlines. Willingness to work some weekends and evenings (with appropriate arrangements made to ensure adequate leave arrangements).
