We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join our team during a transformative phase of growth and expansion.In this dynamic role, you will leverage your expertise to ensure payroll excellence while driving continuous improvement across processes, systems, and practices.Key AccountabilitiesTechnical Payroll LeadershipGovernance & ReportingEmployee Performance & DevelopmentPrimary ResponsibilitiesAccurately process fortnightly and monthly payrolls to meet strict deadlines.Review exception reports and authorization processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.Provide expert advice on payroll policies and processes, ensuring alignment with applicable awards, enterprise agreements, common law contracts, and statutory obligations.Stay up to date with payroll and taxation legislation, industry changes, and provide training and guidance to the business.Champion and implement best practices in payroll processes, policies, and procedures.Lead the Payroll team with a customer-focused approach, ensuring timely responses to pay inquiries and delivering high-quality service.Conduct regular audits of payroll systems, including titles, reporting managers, rosters, and work patterns.Drive efficiency and innovation in payroll functions through continuous improvement initiatives.Collaborate with HR on projects, data and change management, reporting, and analytics.What we are looking for10+ years experience in payroll concepts and activities including time and attendance rosters, award interpretation, superannuation legislation, employment related taxation and salary packaging.Experience in Civil, Construction, Mining and/or Energy sectors.Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills.Highly effective interpersonal and customer service skills.Shows confidence, maturity, integrity and a high level of energy, enthusiasm and drive.Explains payroll processes, expresses opinions, information and key points clearly to other staff in a clear and succinct manner.Has an eye for detail and completes tasks accurately and efficiently even when working under pressure.Membership RequirementTo support your professional development, the successful candidate must maintain membership with a recognised payroll industry association, such as TAPS (The Australian Payroll Association).
