Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager, Payroll & Compliance to join our HR Services function. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing a team of payroll, onboarding, super, and compliance team members, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for approximately 5000 employees. This is a hands-on role that requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a focus on innovation and automation.
Responsibilities: Lead, manage, and motivate staff in the payroll team, enabling their capability development and performance management.Achieve significant payroll objectives and programs leading to automation and simplification of payroll processes.Upskill the payroll staff members to focus on delivering consistent and accurate processes and advice.Develop and empower the payroll team to build strong partnerships with the wider business and ensure compliance with statutory and legislative requirements.Oversee the payroll compliance function to provide direction on risk areas and ensure accurate outcomes.Represent the University externally in sector groups and discussions relating to payroll.Build stringent reconciliation processes within the Defined Benefit and Choice super funds.Manage and distribute workload for the payroll team, ensuring deliverables are met.Contribute to management discussions within the wider HR Services team and with school admin and management personnel.Proactively involve in discussions with other HR teams to support project-related activities.Qualifications: Demonstrated experience and expertise in the management of significant human and material resources, or postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience.High level of theoretical and applied knowledge in professional area of expertise.Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in liaising with staff at all levels of an organisation.Strong leadership skills including the ability to negotiate, motivate, influence, and build relationships.5+ years of payroll management and leadership experience in a complex organisation for a payroll above 2000 employees.Well-formed written and verbal skills in dealings with staff members and managers within the organisation.Ability to inspire and motivate others towards shared objectives, actively facilitate communication, and create a safe, inclusive, high-performing team culture.Demonstrated commitment to reflective practice and self-development, identifying and challenging own biases, responding to others with empathy.Ability to work collaboratively across functions, tailor communication in a way that is meaningful to the audience, and contribute to a safe, inclusive, high-performing culture.Demonstrated creative, critical, and systems thinking, ability to promote a culture of innovation within the local area.Current Working with Children's Check essential.If you are a dynamic leader with a proven track record in payroll management and compliance, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
