About the role
Cornish College is seeking an experienced College Accountant to join our team. This full-time role is responsible for overseeing the college's financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. As the College Accountant, you will play a crucial part in supporting the college's strategic objectives and ensuring financial compliance.
What you'll be doing Preparing and analysing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the college leadership team and Board of Directors Developing and managing the college's annual budget, including forecasting and variance analysis Overseeing the accounts payable, receivable and payroll functions to ensure timely and accurate processing Reconciling all bank accounts and maintaining accurate financial records Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, legislation, and internal policies Providing financial advice and support to college departments and budget holders Supervising and mentoring the finance team to enhance their skills and capabilities What we're looking for Proven experience as a College Accountant or a similar senior finance role, ideally in the education sector Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, financial management, and reporting Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic insights Proficient in the use of financial management software and tools, such as accounting systems and spreadsheet applications Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels A relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance, and a professional accounting certification (CPA or CA) To Apply for this Position Applicants are encouraged to carefully review the Position Description available on our website:
