The opportunity Our NSW Water team is currently looking to hire a Senior or Associate Hydrogeologist .
The location is flexible between Newcastle or Sydney , with the option to work from home (if desired).
Our hydrogeologists apply scientific knowledge and analysis to understand groundwater-related issues, including assessing the quantity, quality and availability of groundwater.
Some of the projects you may be involved in include transport/infrastructure, mining, energy, water resource management/supply and projects that support environmental impact assessments.
Recent projects include: predicting groundwater flow pathways from a closed mine groundwater inflow assessment for the design of major underground road tunnelling projects hydrogeological investigations, modelling and assessment to inform the design of a hydraulic well barrier derisking groundwater impacts for construction related to water utility infrastructure groundwater impact assessment related to renewable energy infrastructure conceptualisation, modelling and groundwater impact characterisation at a fuel terminal using applied tracers and other methods to investigate the behaviour of a fault numerical modelling to support landfill liner and leachate system design.
What you'll do Undertake/lead hydrogeological investigations and assessments Site investigation planning and coordination Analyse and interpret hydrogeological data Prepare technical reports Provide specialist hydrogeological advice Mentor junior hydrogeologists and foster a culture of continuous learning Develop and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders Abou you You're likely to have 5-12 years of experience in hydrogeology within an engineering or environmental consultancy.
You will also bring: Proven track record of leading successful hydrogeological projects Strong commitment to SHEQ, mental health and developing a safe workspace for everyone Exceptional communication (written and verbal) Developing leadership skills and experience in managing project teams Experience with industry software packages, such as GIS and AQTESOLV, and coding skills (e.g.
Python) will be highly regarded Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geosciences, Environmental Science, or a related field; a post-graduate degree in Hydrogeology will be highly regarded You will be joining dedicated team of hydrogeologists in NSW whilst being connected to hydrogeologists throughout Australia and across our global offices.
