This role manages administrative functions like technical support, infrastructure, research ethics, health and safety, finance, HR, and communications. The Senior Operations Manager ensures smooth daily operations and offers strategic advice to the Executive team to advance the Institute's goals.Key responsibilities of this position include:Overseeing the day-to-day management of the Institute's laboratory and facility's operations including development and implementation of processes and procedures to ensure efficient management of the Institute's administrative functions.Ensuring a high-level compliance with safety guidelines and legislation, oversee laboratory audits, and develop and conduct health and safety training. Whilst promoting through leadership a positive health and safety culture.Handling space allocation, maintain building infrastructure and major equipment, oversee installations, contractor access, and renovations.Serving as the main contact for University Corporate Services functions, Science Technical Services, and the Office for Research.Offering high-level guidance to the Executive team on planning, budgeting, and compliance, and prepare briefing and planning documents.About youTo be successful in this role you will hold a relevant postgraduate qualification in science or an equivalent qualification and combination of relevant knowledge and experience in life sciences research. In addition, you will demonstrate:Effective communication with researchers, staff, students within to the Institute across multiple campus and external stakeholders.Ability to manage competing tasks and deadlines to meet the complex operational requirements of the Institute.Demonstrated ability to manage staff at all levels across a variety of specialities and facilities to lead a high performing team.Demonstrated attributes of resilience, flexibility, creativity, digital literacy and entrepreneurship for continued success.What we can offerThis is a fixed term (3 year), full time position and can be based at either the Gold Coast or Nathan campus, but this position is cross campus and will include travel between campuses.Salary RangeThe full time equivalent base salary will be HEW Level 10 step 1 $138,753 per annum + 17% superannuation.
