About Glencore's Zinc business: Our Zinc Assets include multiple & geographically dispersed operations, including underground and open pit mines, processing plants, refineries, smelters and port facilities. We operate across Asia, Europe, the Americas and Australia. Despite being labelled Zinc we are polymetallic producing Zinc, Copper, Lead, Silver, Gold and other metals through various orebodies. Brisbane is home to one of our corporate offices which is where this role is based.
About your new position as Senior Operational Readiness Specialist: Your primary purpose will be to create business value for Capital Projects and Studies globally for the Zinc division. You will provide expert advice, likely earned from operational experience, to add robustness, practicality and profitability to projects, domestically and internationally, across Glencore's Zinc assets. You will work on Major Capital Projects such as plant upgrades, restarting operations or greenfield operations., not business as usual projects.
We operate on a matrix structure where you will be part of a large team yet just one of three people working in the Operational Readiness stream. You will work across multiple projects and be involved at all stages of the study lifecycle, from concept to feasibility, adding practical advice to facilitate and promote successful projects with shorter ramp up stages.
To deliver on that purpose some of your accountabilities will be to:
Engage regularly with operations and project team members across multiple projects.Provide advice and support to Senior Management and Project Managers for the management of operational readiness and commissioning programs.Establish Operational Readiness and Commissioning cost estimates & schedules to contribute to the full project estimates and schedules.Work in multi-disciplined projects teams to develop project study documentation and reports in complete alignment.Develop and maintain reusable guidelines, tools and templates.Develop communication material and facilitate training sessions.Identify continuous improvements in future operational readiness programs through lessons learned.It is important for you to have prior or current experience in either Operational Readiness or Commissioning of large capital projects.
We are also looking for the following skills and experience:
The ability to establish and maintain relationships to influence the adoption of Operational Readiness and Commissioning processes, tools and templates.Engaging and influential report writing and presentation skills.Sound knowledge of mining and/or processing operations.Previous participation in projects implementation.Knowledge of project management for large scale projects (scoping, planning, scheduling, resource planning and cost estimation)The ability to swap from a thought leader to an implementer, adapting to the specific requirements and needs of projects.What's in it for you?
