We have an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team leading our approach to the provision of quality care to clients of the Occupational Therapy Department across the acute care wards. This includes but is not limited to cardiology, cardiothoracic, medical, surgical, oncology, orthopaedics, aged care and neurology. The position will be based across the cardiac/cardiothoracic and thoracic medicine caseloads in the first instance.
Primary duties include assessment, treatment, home assessment, equipment prescription, discharge planning, and education/monitoring to relevant patients. The position will require supervision of junior staff and students at various times and is required to participate in Occupational Therapy team activities, quality improvement and research.
Assistance to other clinical areas at St Vincent's Hospital may be required depending on team capacity and workload. Weekend work is a consideration as determined by departmental need and workflow demands and this role will be responsible for rostering of weekend staff and management of this component of the service as well as supporting weekend staff supervision.

Selection Criteria: Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent's Health Australia. Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy and Current Australian Occupational Therapy Registration (AHPRA). Extensive post-graduate experience in acute and/or sub-acute hospital settings with experience in cardiology, cardiothoracic, medical, surgical, neurology, orthopaedics, aged care, and oncology. Experience in clinical management with the ability to apply clinical reasoning skills and independent professional judgment on routine and complex matters. Demonstrated supervision/leadership experience with staff and/or students, and well-developed communication skills. Advanced written, communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, inclusive of refined skillset in report writing. Demonstrated experience with quality projects/research.
