Our Lady of La Vang Special School is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist with a sense of fun and adventure who enjoys working with young people and making a difference in their learning.
The Occupational Therapist reports to the Principal and work as part of the school's Allied Health Team consisting of Speech Pathology and Intensive Interaction Coordinator. Collaborating with teaching staff and assessing the sensory, social and emotional regulation, personal care, mobility and manual handling needs of students are integral to the occupational therapy role. The role is dynamic with each day offering opportunities to enable enriched and meaningful occupations for students as part of their learning. The work is fast paced and requires strong time management skills and adaptability to prioritise your workload and support the changing needs of the school community.
The Occupational Therapist works collaboratively with the Speech Pathologist, Teachers and ESO's to ensure specialised supports are integrated into the school environment and are individualised with the student's interests, strengths and needs met. The role is
Essential Criteria for the OT role: Knowledge and capacity to assess the sensory, personal care, mobility and manual handling needs of students and develop, implement, monitor and review individual plans;Experience in the provision of an educationally oriented occupational therapy service for students, including planning, delivery and evaluation of a quality service incorporating programmes of professional learning for staff;An understanding and commitment to the ethos of Catholic schools;An approved degree in (Applied Science) Occupational Therapy or other equivalent qualification and registration with AHPRA;Working knowledge of current evidence-based practices in occupational therapy and disability, neurodiversity affirming practice and an understanding of child developmentCollaborative problem-solving skills, to develop holistic strategies that creatively support students with complex needs within group environmentsPlease note : Our Lady of La Vang is deemed under Catholic Education SA Vaccination Policy as a High Risk Setting.
