Want to work on the coolest and most complex project ever undertaken in Australia? A once in a lifetime opportunity exists to join at the beginning of what will be a decades-long and globally relevant program to safely and securely deliver the cutting-edge nuclear-powered submarine program.
In order for ASA to develop the digital systems that will underpin Australia's conventionally armed nuclear-powered submarine program, we are seeking the most talented and enthusiastic individuals with expertise in the following areas:
Software, systems and data engineersDigital technologists and techniciansAs a Senior Nuclear Submarine Digital Technologist within ASA's Digital Strategy Branch, you will drive the design, development, testing, delivery, support and evolution of the digital capabilities and systems required to ensure an enduring, safe, available and capable Australian nuclear-powered submarine fleet. You will work within transdisciplinary teams across the science, technology, engineering, construction, operation and sustainment eco-system, adopting and evolving advanced and emerging technologies to ensure efficient and relevant capability delivery. Advanced technologies like AI and machine learning are just the beginning.
Your duties in this role may also include:
Building and sustaining effective relationships with a network of internal and external partners across academia, industry and government.Managing stakeholder relationships, contributing to the development of initiatives including the provision of high-level scientific technical and administrative advice.Developing, enhancing, and sustaining technology solutions employed across the nuclear-powered submarine program.Developing and applying knowledge, principles, techniques and best practice approaches to deliver high-assurance and reliable digital solutions.Implementing scientific and engineering methodologies to solve problems of considerable complexity.Ensure professional scientific and engineering standards are maintained through the application of established principles.Working collaboratively, operating as an effective team member, providing constructive feedback, and mentoring less senior staff.Managing allocated resources, setting work area priorities, managing workflows and evaluating technical outcomes.To excel in these roles, you'll need to be able to:
Research and synthesise complex information.Develop, investigate, test and interpret technical requirements.Provide technical advice, knowledge and recommendations.Engage with Defence, AUKUS and industry partners to understand and develop requirements.Prepare briefs, minutes, proposals and presentations.Coordinate, share and effectively engage with highly skilled teams across the enterprise.Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry best-practice.Effectively and efficiently problem solve.Your role may range from being very specialist in nature to quite broad. You may also have the opportunity to contribute across multiple streams.
About our TeamThe Digital Strategy branch works within the Australian Submarine Agency to establish, sustain and evolve the digital capabilities needed to enable sovereign technical control of our submarines. Our team is responsible for the development and sustainment of a wide range of digital capabilities, including digital engineering environments, specialised software tools and advanced digital and modelling capabilities.
Our Ideal CandidateWe are seeking employees who are agile, innovative and energised by high-paced work. Our ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience relating to software engineering, model-based systems engineering, and/or computer and data science, including applying that knowledge to develop digital solutions to complex real-world problems. They will provide a significant level of specialist, professional and technical expertise relating to their function areas. With guidance and support, they will initiate, establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with a broad network of stakeholders, and have the ability to recognise shared agendas and work toward mutually beneficial outcomes.
Our ideal candidate will have a Bachelor degree related to Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or equivalent. Postgraduate qualifications in a related field will be highly regarded.
Security Clearance:
Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at "Negative Vetting Level 2".
Mandatory Qualifications:
A Bachelor degree, relevant vocational qualifications or relevant skills and experience related to Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or equivalent.
