Vertex Minerals Limited is a gold mining company with a focus on redeveloping the Reward Gold Mine at Hill End NSW.
The Project is in the central west of NSW, Australia, between the major regional centres of Bathurst and Mudgee, and is approximately 200km WNW of Sydney. The processing plant is presently under construction with commissioning expected in January 2025.
Initial production will be sourced from stockpiles adjacent to the processing plant before moving to high grade underground sources in the second quarter of 2025. The Hill End goldfield is located within the Palaeozoic Lachlan Fold Belt in central-western New South Wales, Australia and was the site of the first discovery of economic gold in Australia in 1851.
During the early years, the Hill End goldfield produced as much as 50 t of gold, together with the Holtermann Nugget, the largest non-alluvial nugget ever mined at 268 kg.
The Hill End goldfield is noted for its coarse gold, both as alluvial nuggets and as masses of gold and quartz in narrow quartz veins - generally similar to the Victorian deposits at Ballarat and Bendigo.
Vertex's Hill End Project comprises mineral resources located at the Reward Gold Mine, Red Hill Project and Hargraves Project with total contained gold estimated to be 483,000 ounces.
The Reward Gold Mine has a resource of 419,000 tonnes at 16.7 grams/tonne.
Reporting to the General Manager, the appointee will play a key role in the mine's development and as a member of the small technical team on site developing the strategies to ensure the operation optimizes its operational and financial performance.
The key responsibilities of the Senior Mine Geologist will include, but not be limited to, the following:
Providing support for exploration activities by managing drilling programmes with our Company owned LM90 diamond drill.Performing production duties such as mapping, sampling and core logging to guide underground development and production activities.Undertaking end of month grade and tonnage calculations, including stockpile tracking and mine to mill reconciliation.Assisting in the forecasting of monthly mine production and costs.Assisting in the development of grade control and underground procedures.Reviewing and interpreting historic plans and drilling data to identify potential mine extensions.Ensuring compliance with all company external reporting requirements including the Resource Regulator, JORC 2012 and the ASX.The position requires an individual with:
Tertiary qualifications in Geology.Experience and expertise in narrow vein underground mining operations would be highly regarded.An ability to make pragmatic geological decisions to achieve best production performance.Capability to identify the best financial outcomes.Preparedness to be "hands on" with assessment of day-to-day geology activities.Ability to work independently and self-manage.We would prefer the appointee to be residential in Bathurst and would offer a very competitive salary, a 9-day fortnight and if not currently residing in the Bathurst region we would provide assistance to relocate and settle in Bathurst.
