MPI have partnered with a mid-tier gold producer who are currently expanding their Australian operations. We are inviting applications for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mine Engineer Open Pit with a strong technical background. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and safe extraction of gold resources, providing expertise, and contributing to the strategic planning and execution of their mining projects.
The role: As a Senior Mine Engineer, you will manage and optimize the operation of our open-pit mining projects. Your key responsibilities will include:
Mine Planning and Design: Develop short and medium mine plans, ensuring alignment with production targets and operational efficiency. Scheduling: Create and implement detailed mining schedules to maximize production and minimize costs while maintaining safety and environmental standards. Cost Management: Monitor and control operational costs, contributing to the budgeting process and ensuring financial objectives are met. Operational Support: Provide technical guidance to the mining operations team to ensure compliance with plans, safety regulations, and production targets. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for operational improvements and innovation, leading initiatives to enhance productivity and resource efficiency. Safety and Compliance: Champion safety initiatives, ensuring all mining activities adhere to the highest safety and environmental standards. Mentorship and Leadership: Lead and mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, growth, and continuous learning. Collaboration: Work closely with geology, processing, and environmental teams to ensure seamless integration of mine planning with overall project objectives. The requirements: Bachelor's degree or higher in Mining Engineering or in a related field. Unrestricted Quarry Managers certificate is essential for this role. Minimum 8-10 years of experience in open-pit mining operations, with a strong understanding of mine planning, design, and production optimization. Ideally, a strong background working for gold producers within Australia. Proficiency with mine planning software (e.g., Surpac, Vulcan, or similar). Solid understanding of Australian mining regulations and industry best practices. Excellent problem-solving abilities with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment.
