Native Mineral Resources (NMR) is a publicly listed minerals exploration company with a portfolio of precious metal and base metal properties in pedigree Australian settings.
NMR has recently acquired the Far Fanning Gold Mine and BlackJack Processing Plant, based in the Charters Towers region of Northern Queensland as part of a new and exciting transformational acquisition. The acquisitions provide extensive exploration potential and a clear path to gold production with significant upside through resource growth opportunities. An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Senior Metallurgist to join our team at the foundational phase of this innovative new project. This role will be based in Charters Towers, North Queensland and reports to the Mining Operations Manager.
About the role The role will be responsible for leading the ore processing operations for the gold mine. This position requires in-depth experience in ensuring that ore recovery is maximised at all stages of Processing. The Senior Metallurgist will ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective ore production to achieve optimal production. This role is integral to the success of our operations, focusing on the efficient and sustainable extraction of gold. The Senior Metallurgist will also be responsible for all metallurgical testwork and planning on any exploration or near mine projects that may come available in the future.
Key Responsibilities: Lead the ore processing operations, ensuring the maximum recovery of gold through efficient plant performance. Design and implement advanced metallurgical test programs to continuously improve recovery rates and process efficiency. Monitor plant operations and collaborate with the processing team to adjust operational parameters when necessary. Troubleshoot and resolve metallurgical challenges, providing recommendations for process improvements. Ensure that all metallurgical practices comply with environmental and safety regulations. Produce detailed technical reports, presenting metallurgical findings and recommendations to senior management. Mentor junior metallurgists and processing staff, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Key Skills: Expertise in gold processing techniques, plant operations, and recovery optimisation. Analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting complex metallurgical and processing issues. Strong leadership abilities to manage teams and drive continuous process improvements. Meticulous attention to detail with a focus on maintaining high safety and environmental standards. Qualifications and Experience: Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. At least 10 years of experience in gold processing, with a strong focus on plant operations and metallurgical testing. Proven experience in leading metallurgical teams and initiatives in a high-paced mining environment. Strong technical reporting and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
