About the roleAs a senior member of our Referral Services multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialist mental health assessments, intervention, consultation and liaison services to South West Healthcare's Warrnambool Emergency Department (ED). You will coordinate access to acute inpatient beds for consumers requiring them including seeking out of area beds if local access is unavailable. You will ensure all actions align with the principles of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 and that appropriate reporting and escalation as required under the Act are followed.
As a suitably qualified Occupational Therapist, Psychologist, Registered Psychiatric Nurse or Social Worker you will provide a rapid response to people who require urgent or intensive specialist mental health assessment, treatment and support. Collaboration between Senior Mental Health Clinicians and the ED medical treating team, Ambulance Services and Victoria Police aims to provide specialist care for clients with co-occurring health needs.

What you bringThe successful applicant will be an experienced and qualified Mental Health Clinician from one of the below disciplines.
Occupational Therapist: at least 7 years of mental health experience with the ability to demonstrate excellent skills and broad experience in mental health clinical services. Applicants must have registration with AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist.Psychologist: experienced and qualified Psychologist with at least 7 years of mental health experience with the ability to demonstrate excellent skills and broad experience in mental health clinical services. Applicants must have registration with AHPRA as a Registered Psychologist.Registered Psychiatric Nurse: with at least 5 years of mental health experience with the ability to demonstrate excellent skills and broad experience in mental health clinical services. Applicants must hold registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.Social Worker: qualified and with at least 7 years of mental health experience with the ability to demonstrate excellent skills and broad experience in mental health clinical services. Applicants must hold eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).All disciplines must have a proven ability to work within a team based multi-disciplinary model. Working as part of a collaborative and highly skilled team of professionals, excellent verbal and written communication skills are also essential. A comprehensive understanding and knowledge of legislation, regulation and contemporary practice is a must.
