Senior Media & Communications Advisor (Temporary Full-Time) Position: Senior Media & Communications Advisor Type: Temporary Full-Time until Mid-May 2025 (Maternity Leave cover) Location: Oran Park SALARY: $1880.86- $2155.33 pw + Super + Leaseback Vehicle APG Workforce are seeking an experienced Senior Media & Communications Advisor to elevate our media presence and provide strategic advice.
Key Responsibilities Develop and manage media strategies, policies, and communication plans.
Advise the Mayor, Councillors, and Executive on media and communications.
Handle media inquiries and prepare high-impact responses.
Write engaging content including media releases, speeches, and briefing notes.
Represent the Council at official events and functions.
Monitor and report on social media.
Essential Criteria Tertiary qualifications in WHS or related field.
White card (Construction industry induction).
Experience in safety leadership within the construction industry.
Proven experience in implementing safety systems in operational environments.
Knowledge of NSW WHS Act and Heavy Vehicle National Law.
Ability to advise and support compliance with WHS regulations.
Strong communication skills with internal customers on strategic and operational matters.
Discreet and confidential with staff issues.
Flexible working hours.
Relevant qualifications or extensive experience in media and communications.
Experience writing for government or executive-level communications.
Strong written, verbal, and analytical skills.
Extensive media relations experience and understanding of government processes.
Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
Flexibility to work outside standard hours.
Desirable Criteria Knowledge of government protocols and the Local Government Act.
Experience with photography/videography and editing software (Adobe products preferred).
Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.
Experience undertaking safety audits and investigations.
Experience in Local Government.
