Senior Mechanical Engineer – Material Handling Technologies (Mining)This is an exciting career opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our client's team in their Perth head office. In this role, you will be responsible for providing mechanical engineering expertise to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of material handling technologies in the mining and associated heavy industry sectors.What you'll be doing:Develop proposals and actively contribute to business development activities.Actively participate in bid meetings and negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve technical issues.Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and technical evaluations.Lead the concept design, development, and optimisation of material handling equipment and systems such as balanced machines, bucket wheel reclaimers, stackers, and ship loaders.Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, drawings, and maintenance plans.Provide engineering support during the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of equipment.Monitor and analyse equipment performance to identify opportunities for improvement.Continuously review and update cost estimates throughout the project lifecycle.What we're looking for:Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and/or Creo.Capacity to read and interpret technical drawings.Strong analytical skills.Previous exposure to balanced machines or other material handling equipment is advantageous.Previous experience with the Finite Element Method and proficiency in FEA software (Ansys, Strand7, SpaceGass, or Hyperworks) is advantageous.Knowledge of relevant industry codes such as AS4324.1, AS1418, AS4100, ISO5048, FEM Section II, and others is advantageous.What we offer:We are committed to providing our candidates and clients with a supportive and inclusive work environment that fosters professional growth and development.
