The opportunity In this role, you will take on a hands-on leadership position, guiding and mentoring a team of project managers in the execution of complex, high-priority technology and regulatory projects. This position requires a seasoned leader with expertise in managing large-scale initiatives, with a strong focus on navigating the challenges of regulatory compliance, technology integration, and operational efficiency. You will lead cross-functional teams, including project managers, business analysts, internal departments, external teams and third-party vendors, ensuring the successful delivery of high-impact initiatives.
Your new role You will work closely with your team, taking full accountability for the successful delivery of projects and programs within your assigned portfolio. This includes providing delivery oversight to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget and meet quality standards, while effectively managing risks, resources and stakeholder expectations. You will oversee escalations, resource allocation and budget management across the portfolio. In collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, you will manage contractual obligations, including scope, deliverables and costs, by leveraging and engaging shared resources from QBE's practice.
Additional responsibilities include:
Cultivating strong, proactive relationships with peers, senior leadership and third-party vendors to ensure clear, continuous and transparent communication, driving alignment and preventing silos. Identifying and managing risks, dependencies or pre-requisites that could affect the successful delivery of the portfolio or impact other projects and portfolios within the organization. Promoting a collaborative, high-performance culture by driving continuous improvements within the team and providing leadership and mentorship to project managers, program managers, business analysts and external partners (e.g., third-party vendors). Ensuring that project delivery teams adhere to company policies, follow project management best practices and implement established methodologies. About you To succeed in this role, you should have proven experience in a similar position within the technology teams of organisations with complex structures. You must be proactive, accountable, and results-oriented, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality outcomes. Your problem-solving abilities should be exceptional, with a capacity for critical thinking and driving innovative solutions. You will also need to effectively mitigate risks and manage both people and processes to ensure successful project delivery.
You will possess:
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and guide diverse teams toward successful outcomes. Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities, able to engage effectively with senior leaders, business units and third-party vendors. Expertise in risk management and issue resolution, with a proven track record of mitigating project delivery challenges at both the project and portfolio levels. In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid) and industry best practices. A solid understanding of vendor management, contractual negotiations and the management of external partnerships. Strong business acumen, with the ability to manage financials, resource forecasting, and team utilization effectively. You will lead by example, taking a hands-on approach, leading from the front and actively engaging in team efforts.
