Specialist technical advice on Australian Accounting Standards including IFRS Implementation services of new accounting standards Forensic / expert witness services in application of accounting standards Training Preparation of accounting manuals and policies Preparation of financial statements. About the role As a Senior Manager, you'll provide a range of advice and value to key stakeholders.
Specifically, this role is responsible for providing accounting technical advice to clients and the provision of technical support in financial reporting.
The position will also be responsible for developing new initiatives and reviewing training materials to increase resources around financial reporting matters.
This will include the preparation and delivery of related training courses as well as contributing to a variety of publications and technical discussions.
Key responsibilities: Provide technical accounting support to audit and other client-facing engagement teams as required. Reviewing and assisting with financial statement disclosures Provision of specialist technical advice on the application of IFRS and Australian Accounting Standards to clients in relation to complex transactions Working with clients to prepare high quality financial statements Implementing services of new accounting standards Act as technical consultant in accordance with the BDO technical consultations policy for any accounting matter set out in the policy. Perform technical reviews of financial statements in accordance with BDO technical consultations policy. Contribute ideas and review training materials prepared by BDO National Professional Standards on accounting matters. Prepare and deliver financial reporting and training Prepare and deliver client accounting seminars and training as required Research into and development of responses to changes in Accounting Standards Active involvement in regular national meetings to discuss technical queries and ensure consistency across our offices. Assist with the growth of the IFRS Advisory team through the development of a suitable professional profile and other marketing and business development activities. What you'll need to succeed Our ideal candidate is passionate and enthusiastic for accounting and finance function matters and comes from a consulting/professional services background.
You'll be joining a hard-working and diverse team who are highly motivated and very good at what they do.
Your skills and qualifications: Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) Sound knowledge in carbon accounting and/or sustainability reporting Genuine interest in ESG or a strong desire to work in Sustainability & Decarbonisation Strategy engagements Experience in analysing accounting issues and presenting viable solutions Strong client and stakeholder focus CA or CPA qualifications Clear and effective communication skills and well-developed interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively at all levels Why BDO?
