The Senior Manager, COO Office is a newly created role within the COO Office to undertake a leadership role in the COO Office and the IBO Group.

Working to our purpose of "Working Together to Enable Investing", an exciting opportunity is offered to an experienced professional to lead strategic thinking within a vibrant, changing and fast paced environment. The person will have a passion and curiosity to help IBO succeed through clarity of strategic vision and its execution. The candidate will be an extremely high performing generalist capable of taking complex, multi-dimensional business problems and co-designing solutions with the business to solve for them.

The role will work across all elements of the strategy management lifecycle from formulation to execution for the IBO group, and for the COO Office. The role will drive strategy thinking, business planning and operating model design. The role will also contribute to capability enablement and operational business management activities in support of the IBO group.

Reporting to the Head of Strategy (COO Office) and working directly with the COO, the IBO Leadership Team, the COO Office team and the broader IBO group, the role will help optimise and implement the assurance, oversight, advisory and support capabilities needed to enable robust strategy management. This will include the annual business planning process, the ongoing management and monitoring of strategy execution and associated activities around change programs, environment analysis and research to understand market trends and best practices in strategy management.

To be successful in this role, the candidate will have:
Strategic thought leadership skills and expertise which will be leveraged to work collaboratively with the COO, the Head of Strategy, COO Office and IBO Leadership Team to develop and implement IBO's strategy aligned to the Agency's strategy;Worked in a similar position in an organisation that is purpose driven, dynamic and innovative;A highly inquisitive nature, with a strong appetite to learn, explore and imagine the possibilities and pathways to achieve IBO's strategic vision;A strong track record of developing and implementing strategy frameworks to support business change initiatives;Deep understanding of operating model management, and role of the operating model to link strategy to execution;Exceptional problem solving and abstract reasoning ability with an analytical/conceptual thinking mindset, creative thinking skills and structural reasoning;A strong appetite to understand current and emerging market trends and developments; and to analyse intelligence on best practices, peer models, benchmarks and other learnings to inform decision making and solution design;Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex matters in a clear, simple and logical manner and with impact. The key duties of the position include:Support the COO, Head of Strategy, COO Office and the IBO Leadership Team with all elements of strategy planning, implementation and the ongoing monitoring and evaluation;Work with our risk colleagues to consider and address risks when developing and evaluating the IBO strategy, ensuring that IBO is integrating strategic risk analysis into the overall strategy and business planning processes;Lead the development, maintenance and implementation of tools and models used to aid the design and execution of the strategy. These include strategy management process, strategy framework (e.g. Balance Scorecard), operating plan templates, business performance monitoring and dashboard reporting tools necessary to provide clarity of strategy and to "turn strategy into action";In performing the above, collaborate with the CEO Office to ensure alignment of the IBO Strategy to Agency Strategy.Strategy ManagementSupport the COO, Head of Strategy, COO Office and the IBO Leadership Team with all elements of strategy planning, implementation and the ongoing monitoring and evaluation;Work with our risk colleagues to consider and address risks when developing and evaluating the IBO strategy, ensuring that IBO is integrating strategic risk analysis into the overall strategy and business planning processes;Lead the development, maintenance and implementation of tools and models used to aid the design and execution of the strategy. These include strategy management process, strategy framework (e.g. Balance Scorecard), operating plan templates, business performance monitoring and dashboard reporting tools necessary to provide clarity of strategy and to "turn strategy into action";In performing the above, collaborate with the CEO Office to ensure alignment of the IBO Strategy to Agency Strategy.Business PlanningCo-ordinate and oversee the business planning process for the IBO group, working with the IBO Business Units to provide guidance and support, as required;As part of the business planning process, work with the other specialist teams (e.g. Finance and Project Services) to oversee the budget setting and monitoring, workforce planning and resource management, and strategic initiatives planning activities for IBO and the COO Office.Operating Model ManagementLead the development and maintenance of the group Operating Model framework, tools and models and their implementation across the IBO Business Units;Support the teams with Operating Model Management activities, for example, current state analysis, operating model documentation, option analysis and operating model design.Market Research and BenchmarkingCarry out detailed research and analysis of business and market intelligence. Synthesise and analyse the data to draw out and articulate meaningful business insights enabling COO Office to develop solutions for the IBO group to achieve its objectives;Other Business Management ResponsibilitiesOperational performance analysis and reporting including dashboard design and implementation;Management reporting including regular updates to SLT, CEO and Board;Stakeholder and relationship management;Business management and governance forums, policies, frameworks, methodologies, protocols and processes to enable IBO group and the business units to effectively manage their respective businesses.Experience
Do you have a proven track record at a top consulting firm or financial institution? Are you enthusiastic about solving complex business problems? Do you have experience in strategy, business planning, and operating models? Have you gained broad experience by working overseas?

Qualifications
The successful candidate will be a qualified and experienced professional with at least 8-10 years' relevant experience in strategy management and business management. This role should be gained from having direct responsibility for strategy management, gained from the financial services industry, preferably at an investment manager and/or securities servicing organisation. The experience can be via working in corporate strategy and/or in consulting. Other relevant areas of expertise that is highly valued are in business architecture, product management and operating model management.
