We are a dynamic and multidisciplinary team of doers working passionately to apply cutting-edge robotics to solve the hardest challenges that will transform the space sector.What We're Looking ForWe seek an experienced Senior Machine Vision Engineer with at least 3 years of industry experience in developing and implementing machine vision systems.
You will play a critical role in advancing our autonomous robotics for space servicing, assembling, and surveillance.
If you are driven by the challenge of developing advanced machine vision solutions for space applications, we want to hear from you.Key Functions & ResponsibilitiesMachine Vision System Development : Lead the design, development, and implementation of machine vision systems for space robotics applications.Algorithm Development:

Develop and optimise image processing and computer vision algorithms for object detection, recognition, modelling, and tracking in space environments.Data Analysis:

Perform data analysis and validation to ensure the accuracy and reliability of vision systems.Innovation & Research:

Drive innovation by researching and applying the latest advancements in machine vision and AI technologies.Prototyping & Testing:

Design and execute prototyping, testing, and validation of machine vision systems in simulated environments.Collaboration:

Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of machine vision systems with overall robotics solutions.Documentation:

Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of system designs, algorithms, and test results.Risk Management:

Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to machine vision systems throughout the development lifecycle.Continuous Improvement:

Continuously improve machine vision systems through iterative testing, feedback, and enhancement cycles.QualificationsEssential:Strong knowledge of image processing and computer vision algorithms.Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or similar.Have 3+ years of experience working with space systems.Experience with machine vision software and tools (e.g., OpenCV, TensorFlow, PyTorch).Experience with data analysis and validation techniques.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Desirable:Experience with space robotics or aerospace industry.Proven experience in system integration and working with multidisciplinary teams.Familiarity with space environments, including vacuum, radiation, and micro-gravity effects.Experience with hardware-software integration and real-time processing.Education:Bachelor's degree in Computer Vision, Robotics, AI, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field (Master's or Ph.D. preferred).BenefitsCompetitive Salary (based on experience)Equity pool optionsVibrant, open-plan office in London28 Days Annual LeavePrivate Medical InsurancePersonal Development OpportunitiesBe part of a scrappy, dynamic, multidisciplinary, collaborative crew.At Lodestar Space, we value people with unique experiences and skill sets.
