Job DescriptionPurpose of your role We have a new opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel as part of our global Legal Team.
The OFX office is in Sydney (with flexible working arrangements in place), and we are also happy to consider remote work arrangements from locations across Australia.
This role is part of the global Legal Team and is responsible for working closely with the Senior Legal Counsel responsible for each of the regions to support the Chief Legal Officer and Company Secretary to manage legal risk within the business, providing broad ranging corporate and commercial legal support to the business.
What you'll be doing Providing legal advice and consultation to senior management in relation to a variety of corporate, commercial, legal, licensing and regulatory issuesWorking with the Global Executive Team and the OFX Group board in relation to key strategic and commercial initiativesManaging legal risk and advising on global regulatory changes and the impacts on compliance obligations, including payments regulations and sanctions advice, and working with financial services regulators across the regionsSupporting the launch of new products and capabilities, including the new client platform and business transformationsDrafting, reviewing and updating a range of commercial contracts, with clients, partners and service providersDrafting, reviewing and updating product and customer terms and conditions and policies including the privacy policyDrafting and reviewing internal policies and procedures to ensure consistency and regulatory complianceUndertaking such other duties as may be required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibilities of the role and the needs of OFXQualificationsLaw degree with superior academic credentials from a nationally-recognised law schoolCurrent Australian practicing certificateKnowledge, skills, experience7 years+ PQEExperience as a lawyer in a top tier law firmPrevious in-house experience is beneficial but not essentialFinancial services (payments) experience is ideal but not essentialExceptional analytical, written and oral communication and relationship-building skills.Ability to communicate effectively with directors, senior management and other employees from all parts of the Company and an ability to present a highly professional image when representing the CompanyA commercial and pragmatic attitudeAbility to take initiative in bringing value from a legal perspectiveStrong negotiation and problem-solving skillsMust be able to work independently and efficiently in a demanding, fast-paced, fluid environment handling multiple tasks and projects concurrently while maintaining the highest standards and attention to detailWhat it's like working at OFXWe're OFXers because we want to make a difference.
