See yourself in our team:The Retail Banking Legal team provides high value, strategic legal assistance to CBA's retail bank.The Retail Banking Legal team is part of CBA's Customer Services Legal team and benefits from a strong legal support base, knowledge resources and a wealth of expertise from this large in-house division of the Bank.We have 2 x full time Senior Legal Counsel opportunities available in Retail Banking Legal.Do work that matters:We are looking for senior lawyers with extensive experience in financial services law (ideally with a retail focus).You will provide strategic, practical legal advice and be a strong and effective communicator. You will play a key role in assisting CBA (including Bankwest and x15) to introduce customer initiatives and outcomes in a safe and customer-focussed way.We are a team of highly skilled and collegiate lawyers supporting a range of different products and stakeholders with curiosity and humility.The work is varied and may include assisting with:general banking and financial services advice in relation to banking products with a focus on deposit and transaction accounts and distribution channels (including the CommBank app)CBA's industry leading customer recognition and rewards program (CommBank Yello)contractual negotiations with third parties who provide services and benefits to our customersadvising in relation to scam trends, complex customer complaints and remediationcutting edge product and service innovation and enhancements for retail customers, including by utilising new forms of technology such as AIregulatory matters including breach advices and responses to regulator requests, and regulatory changeidentifying opportunities to simplify relevant frameworks, policies and processes to optimise effectiveness and efficiencyadvising on key marketing campaignsWe're interested in hearing from people who have:Tertiary qualifications in law and 10+ years relevant post admission / qualification experienceIdeally at least 4 years' experience in private practice. In-house experience in another financial institution (ideally in retail) also highly desirableExcellent technical legal skills including the ability to quickly grasp and resolve issues in complex matters and a willingness to continue to grow and expand your expertiseThe ability to carefully consider, negotiate, and drive to completion complex legal issuesThe capacity to build excellent relationships with a range of stakeholders and the ability to clearly communicate complex issues within short periods of timeA team-oriented outlook, a "can do" attitude, integrity, sound judgment and humilityWorking at CommBank:Part-time candidates are welcome to apply as we are open to job-share arrangements.
