What you'll doAs a Senior Legal Counsel for Equifax, you will be responsible for providing specialised legal advice on data privacy, competition and consumer law, as well as all aspects of commercial and corporate law. You will also play a big role in ensuring that Equifax's arrangements with its customers and suppliers are properly documented, taking into account all key areas of legal risk.This is an incredible opportunity to join an amazing team and help fuel the growth of an amazing business. You will provide responsive, efficient, practical and high-quality legal advice and guidance in relation to product structuring, commercial contracts and related regulatory, compliance, operational support, sales and commercial issues.Mentoring team members will also be part of this role.You will work closely with the Equifax General Counsel A/NZ, as well as the whole Legal team, as well as Compliance and other key business partners and stakeholders. Your role will be to advise the business in the drafting, reviewing and negotiation of a wide range of new and existing customer contracts, including on-line standard terms, master services agreements, confidentiality agreements, IT agreements, licence agreements, consultancy agreements, alliance, agency and joint venture agreements. Equifax has a wide and varied range of products, so you will never be bored!What experience you needMinimum 8 years experience as a commercial lawyer, and with experience in financial services.Must have prior in-house experience with a major corporation, and/or reputable law firm experience.Extensive and proven experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiation of complex commercial contracts.Comprehensive understanding of Data Privacy, Competition and Consumer, (preferably financial services law.Ability to explain legal concepts in a commercial context.Business focused individuals who appreciate and are able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with multiple competing priorities to juggle, the ability to interpret legal and contractual requirements and provide timely solutions-based legal risk advice, according to the needs of the business.What could set you apartExcellent verbal and written communication skills, great interpersonal skills and the ability to work directly, and communicate with, senior management.Self starter with the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.Experience working with industry regulators (including the OAIC, ACCC and ASIC),and industry associations (including ARCA,), as well as consumer advocacy bodies.
