Our outstanding learning resources and new diverse career-enhancing opportunities will quickly deepen your personal and professional growth.About the roleJoin us at Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease, where we are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to provide legal support to our local affiliate in Australia & New Zealand. This role is a part-time (3 days/week), permanent position based in Sydney. You will be working closely with the local leadership team, supporting all affiliate activities in relation to Market Access, Commercial and Medical activities, Research & Development, Distribution & Supply Chain, Government Affairs, Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance and Quality. You will also provide corporate secretarial support and local Privacy support to the affiliate. This role requires a broad range of experience and a desire to provide solution-oriented advice across a complex and evolving organization.

AccountabilitiesAs Senior Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for monitoring and advising on relevant healthcare laws and regulations, advising local leadership on pricing and market access issues, supporting the affiliate's transition into a competitive environment, and driving the company's position in litigation before the local courts. You will also advise on the local marketing strategy and core product claims for new product launches, as well as identifying and mitigating any local legal risks of innovative projects driven by the International regional HQ.

Essential for the roleAn Australian practicing certificate enabling you to practice law in New South Wales, Australia

Experience in advising the pharmaceutical/biotech industry whether in-house or at a law firm

Excellent knowledge of the laws and regulations in Australia and New Zealand relevant to the pharmaceutical sector, including Medicines Australia Code of Conduct as well as privacy

A strong ability to work autonomously

Demonstrated integrity and judgement

Strong communications skills, verbal and written, and leadership capability

Strong ability to draft documents and deliver presentations

Solution-oriented mindset with strong ability to influence and persuade

Desirable for the roleA collaborative style and track record of building strong working relationships

Experience supporting and/or being a member of business leadership teams

Established leadership skills, within business project and process teams and/or within law departments

Experience working in an international team, and/or in a matrixed environment
