Are you up for the challenge?We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our legal function based in our Flinders Street office, in Melbourne.
Reporting into the General Counsel Southern, you will be accountable for ensuring the operation of the legal functions primarily in VIC, TAS, SA and WA are conducted within the limits prescribed by law and that John Holland's rights are fully protected through the provision of legal advice and guidance.
The focus of the position will be the provision of legal advice and support across our Infrastructure, Building, Rail, and Major Projects Business Groups.
About the Role:Provide legal advice to ensure John Holland's interests are protected, and that commercial arrangements and risk management are acceptable, particularly with reference to John Holland's procedures and Authority Levels, and applicable legislationReview, negotiate, draft and settle contracts and other commercial arrangements to safeguard John Holland's interestsProvide legal advice and support to all John Holland Business Groups, including in the resolution of claims, disputes and differences as and when they ariseWork closely with John Holland's commercial teams to achieve business outcomesEnsure that stakeholders are actively engaged and that beneficial relationships between John Holland, clients, subcontractors, community and other external parties are developed and maintainedAbout You:This position will require you to hold Graduate qualifications in Law, as well as a current Australian Practicing Certificate.
You will have extensive experience as a practicing lawyer in the construction, engineering, resources or transport industry, with a majority of experience in providing contract and construction legal advice, negotiating and settling contracts, and managing disputes and differences.
