We are working hard to create an inclusive workplace and develop Indigenous careers.About the role:Reporting into the Head of Legal - Providers, an excellent opportunity has become available for a Senior Legal Counsel – Providers to join the Trust, Legal and Company Secretariat (TLC) team at Medibank on a permanent basis.As Senior Legal Counsel - Providers, you will be providing strategic, high quality legal services to support Medibank's commercial arrangements and dealings with hospitals and health care providers.This is an integral role where you will be required to draft, review and negotiate complex hospital purchaser provider agreements, Members' Choice arrangements with providers of ancillary (e.g. dental and optical) services and other commercial agreements with providers of health services.You will also advise on and assist with the implementation of strategic business initiatives to transform the way health care is funded within the regulated private health insurance sector, and will support commercial stakeholders in relation to operational matters of relevance to Medibank's dealings with health care providers.About youTo be successful in this role you will have:Minimum 8 years' post qualification experience (PQE) and substantial experience gained within a large commercial law firm or the in-house legal team of a large or complex organisation. Experience in healthcare or front end insurance will be advantageous.Significant exposure to a wide range of areas of commercial legal practice, including general commercial contracting and competition and consumer law, together with exposure to Private Health Insurance legislation, Health Practitioner Regulation National Law, or demonstrated capability to acquire knowledge of such areas based on experience in another highly regulated industry.Extensive experience in providing pragmatic, high quality, commercially focused legal services to both operational staff and senior stakeholders, ensuring that advice is trusted and understood.A down to earth approach, the ability to navigate through multiple priorities in parallel, excellent verbal and written communication, influencing skills and being naturally curious will help you succeed in this role.A career with usAt Medibank, we believe work is something we do, not somewhere we go.
