About the role A member of academic staff who is responsible for coordinating a particular program (e.g.
Bachelor of Nursing Science).
Program Coordinators oversee development and review of programs in consultation with senior stakeholders and may provide assistance to Year Coordinators, Academic Advisors, Course Coordinators, Course in course development and implementation, and accreditation, where required to promote a collaborative and forward-thinking culture within the School and University, ensuring a positive teaching, learning and student experience.
Key Responsibilities Management and administration of the program, including liaison with Course Coordinators, the Head(s) of School(s), the Chair(s) of Teaching and Learning Committees where appropriate; this may include chairing a program management committee.
Management and administration of internal retention strategy that aligns with the university's Student Success and Retention Framework.
Aligning the program and its constituent courses with Faculty and University policies and strategic objectives.
Providing oversight of course offerings and timetabling to ensure student progression.
Promoting the program accurately and effectively in University materials (e.g.
websites) and at relevant University events (e.g.
Orientation and Open Day).
Where applicable, providing oversight with the Course Coordinators for engagement of academic sessionals.
Ensuring program design and delivery is relevant to qualification level (Australian Qualifications Framework) and consistent with curriculum design policies and procedures, professional accreditation standards, relevant regulatory frameworks and threshold standards, as applicable.
Reporting on the program to relevant Boards of Studies and/or Teaching and Learning Committees, including oversight of course and program changes associated with the program and strategic planning for the program.
Ensuring that the program supports the implementation of the learning and Teaching Strategy 2024-2026 including the Student Equity Framework 2022-2024.
Refining the program's coherence, academic standards, and graduate outcomes through oversight of contemporary curriculum, assessment, and pedagogy.
Liaising with external stakeholders, including professional associations, potential employers of graduates, graduates and alumni, secondary schools, and accreditation and registration authorities where appropriate.
Monitoring the student experience and graduate outcomes through internal and external quality assurance data sets and measures.
Working with students as partners in the planning and provision of curricula and co-curricular experiences.
Providing course and program planning advice for enrolled and prospective students including advice on pathways to Honours and postgraduate study where appropriate.
Qualifications, skills & experience A level C Academic Staff Member will normally have advanced qualifications and/or recognised significant experience in the relevant discipline area.
Possession of a doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing.
Evidence of previous experience in Program Coordination (minimum of 3 years' experience).
Experience in working in the Equity and enabling programs would be beneficial but not mandatory.
In determining experience relative to qualifications, regard is had to teaching experience, experience in research, experience outside tertiary education, creative achievement, professional contributions and/or technical achievement.
