Senior Lecturer (Surgery), School of MedicineFremantle CampusPart-time opportunity (0.2), Continuing contractRewarding opportunityFriendly and collaborative environment$133,307 - $153,715 pa (Level C) + 14.25% superannuation (pro rata)About the universityThe University of Notre Dame Australia is a private Catholic University with over 1,000 permanent staff providing an exceptional educational experience to over 12,000 students across our Fremantle, Broome, and Sydney campuses, as well as clinical schools in Victoria and New South Wales.About the roleThis position provides support to the Discipline Lead of Surgery, and assists with curriculum development, assessment, and teaching into the discipline of Surgery in the University of Notre Dame, Fremantle MD program.Key ResponsibilitiesWork with the Discipline leader of Surgery to develop and revise, deliver, and assess the Surgery curriculum in the Fremantle MD program.Teaching duties, which include:Working with clinical mentors and teachers in the hospital to provide clinical supervision to medical students.Providing clinical teaching in various clinical settings, including bedside teaching and physical diagnosis, case presentations, and completing student workplace-based assessments.Providing formal teaching to groups of students.Participate in the OSCE examinations across the MD program.Maintain and develop relationships with the surgeons who take students on placements.Assist with maintaining, managing, and recruiting clinical teachers and placements in the discipline of Surgery.Provide pastoral care to medical students in the Surgery rotations.Other duties as directed by the line manager, National Head of School or delegate.Qualifications, skills & experienceA medical qualification registrable with AHPRA.A fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or equivalent.Clinically active as a surgeon in Western Australia, working in a hospital with Notre Dame students undertaking surgical placements.Experience working as a clinical teacher and/or supervisor with medical students and/or junior doctors.Experience in medical education, teaching, and assessment preferably within a medical school setting.High level interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with a diverse range of people.Excellent organisational and management skills as well as problem-solving skills and attention to detail.BenefitsFast-paced environment with opportunities for professional growth.Generous training and development opportunities.Join the University supporting its students and staff to achieve their career goals in a personal and positive environment.How to applyPlease apply online with a resume and cover letter outlining your suitability for the role.Applications closing date: 06 January 2024To expedite the process, we will begin shortlisting and conducting interviews prior to the close of the advertisement.
