Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor (Teaching and Research) - PsychiatryFull time continuing Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor role for Academic Psychiatrist at Concord Clinical School. Opportunity for an experienced academic to lead teaching and assessment for MD students and undertake research in the Specialty of Psychiatry. Base Salary Level C ($138,645 - $159,867) or Level D ($181,166 to $199,585) + 17% superannuation + Full Clinical Loading. About the opportunity Concord Clinical School is one of the clinical schools of Sydney Medical School and is a major contributor to the University's reputation and achievements in medicine and the biosciences.
We are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer or an Associate Professor in Psychiatry to contribute to the teaching and research in the Specialty of Psychiatry, Sydney Medical School. The position is to be located at Concord Clinical School in Sydney Medical School, which is co-located with Concord Hospital and Concord Centre for Mental Health, in the SLHD. To be eligible for the position, you must be eligible for a clinical appointment as a Specialist psychiatrist with Sydney Local Health District.
Your key responsibilities will be to: Provide leadership in the development, implementation, and promotion of clinical/education programs for MD students relating to Psychiatry and being available for teaching Post doctoral masters course students based at Concord Clinical School or SMS.
Act as the Student Support lead, to facilitate guidance to medical students in the Specialty of Psychiatry to undertake their degree, including those who need additional academic review and support.
Provide clinical care as part of the health care team within the Concord Centre for Mental Health including actively contributing to all department activities, e.g. quality and safety and service improvement.
Promote a culture that is collaborative, team oriented, and one that respects the skill sets and opinions of all faculty and staff.
About you For a Level C role: Have a PhD in a field relevant to psychiatry.
At the time of commencement, be registered as a medical practitioner in NSW with recognition by AHPRA as a Specialist Psychiatrist, and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry.
At the time of commencement, be eligible to hold a salaried appointment in Psychiatry within Sydney LHD.
Have experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives particularly within psychiatry, and evidence of excellence in teaching.
Have a sustained record of excellence in teaching and learning design and practice in Specialty of Psychiatry, as shown by successful student outcomes, demonstrated impact on student learning, recognition through awards/prizes and innovation.
Have an emerging national reputation and research track record including publications in the area of Psychiatry.
Have a network of established relationships with key academic and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders that can be leveraged to enhance the standing of the Specialty, School/ Faculty and University.
For a Level D role (In addition to the above): Demonstrated ability to undertake reviews for the teaching of staff, e.g., as part of a peer review process, when required; or ability to demonstrate informal mentoring of teaching staff.
Demonstrable growing international reputation as evidenced by invitations to present at national/international conferences, or invitations to write scholarly articles, or awards or editorial duties in Q1 SJR ranked journals or other evidence that showcases national and or growing international reputation.
