Senior Learning and Development Officer Location:
Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) CIT is looking for experienced Senior Learning and Development Officers to join the Corporate Services Division.
We are looking to fill a range of positions within our Workforce Capability team aligned to several funded projects and to build a merit pool for future expected temporary and permanent vacancies.
WHAT DO WE WANT?
CIT is seeking experienced and suitably qualified learning and development specialists to fill positions of Senior Learning and Development Officers sitting within the People and Culture Branch.
These positions will play a key part in building the institute's internal capability and providing blended learning solutions and resources in such areas as technical training, core skills, future ways of work, and digital capability.
Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Senior Officer will be responsible for leading, developing, and co-designing a variety of learning and development related tasks that form part of the people and culture program of work, or the CIT VET Workforce Blueprint Project.
Closely aligned to the Cloud Campus program, this position will be key in skilling the CIT workforce to utilize a range of new systems, focusing on technical training and future ways of work.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
The Senior Learning and Development Officer will require an in-depth understanding of how to implement adult learning principles in the design processes, a holistic understanding of human resource management practices and how they align to workforce capability, and the ability to use human-centered design principles when designing learning solutions and resources.
Part of this role may include working with other areas of CIT to design, develop, and maintain job role profiles and map this to existing and future capabilities.
This role is required to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders and provide sound and practical solutions, including designing resources, content, and guides on best practice principles.
It will be varied in its work, and in addition to delivery instructor-led design and delivery, may be responsible for ad hoc project work, preparing briefs and reports, LMS systems administration, corporate induction, and employee engagement initiatives.
WHAT DO I NEED?
To be successful in this position you will need to have experience in a similar position with a focus on instructor-led design and learning and development.
An understanding of general human resource practices, future ways of work, change management, and excellent customer service skills are essential.
Often this work is completed within tight deadlines and limited supervision, and as such, the ability to work autonomously, prioritize work activities, and problem-solve are key skills required to be successful.
Experience in a similar position will be highly regarded.

There are multiple positions available for immediate filling; these positions will be offered temporarily with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.
A Merit Pool will be created to fill expected vacancies over the next 12 months.
