Senior Lawyers (Government and Operations)

Our Commonwealth Government client is seeking to engage multiple Senior Lawyers with experience in statutory interpretation and government compliance. The successful candidates will support the execution of contracts for one of the organisation's key programs, supporting housing outcomes for Australians.

An initial 6-month labour hire contract is on offer. Full-time and part-time working hours are available.

This role is based in Sydney, NSW (flexible working from home arrangements considered).

Please note: only Australian citizens can be considered for these roles. Duties: Advising the Executive team and managers across the business on regulatory compliance obligations.Interpreting legislation and providing pragmatic guidance to the organisation, particularly with respect to enabling legislation and investment mandates.Working with the risk and compliance team to advise on legal aspects of regulatory compliance.Engaging with stakeholders in other areas of government with respect to policy, program design and amendments and updates to legislation.Reviewing, drafting, negotiating and monitoring commercial and operational contracts.Supervising, mentoring and guiding junior lawyers. Requisite skills/experience: 8+ years post-admission experience, currently at a senior associate level or higher with a valid practising certificate.Experience in statutory interpretation, government compliance, Freedom of Information and Privacy matters.Competent contract drafting and negotiation skills.Ability to provide pragmatic guidance framed appropriately for implementation.Ability to work autonomously, prioritise tasks and meet tight deadlines.Strong interpersonal skills, confidence to deal effectively at senior executive level.Superior written and verbal communication skills.
