Join a tier-one ranked Public Sector practiceContribute to a successful and impactful team who are market recognisedWork with a variety of clients, and gain exposure some of the most significant projects in QueenslandThe role Working with our market leading Public Sector Partner, Majella Pollard you will have the opportunity to work on some of the nation's most complex and transformational major government infrastructure projects. This high performing practice is responsible for advising a broad range of public sector clients from local governments to State government departments and government owned corporations. The client base is broad and varied across different levels, each with a unique opportunity to provide considered solutions.
You will be involved in providing advice to government agencies on a variety of project planning and acquisition matters, as well as undertaking Land Court litigation. This role will see you involved in valuation, town planning, hydrology, forensic accounting, economic need, quantity surveying and civil engineering. Working with experts in different fields offers the unique opportunity to expand your breadth of knowledge and expertise into new areas and widen our industry network. 
The type of work we do is broad and we often advise on issues that call for consideration from other practices including Real Estate, Major Projects & Construction and Environment & Sustainable Development. If you enjoy working collaboratively and gaining exposure to other practice groups this role provides the opportunity in abundance.
This role is a full-time or part-time opportunity, we are open to discussing a part-time arrangement that suits your working preferences. You will work closely with another part time Senior Associate to provide full time coverage.
Key responsibilities A high level of client interaction and exposure to prominent government clientsUndertaking advisory work, drafting short form agreements related to land, and drafting court documents; andLiaising with clients, experts and counselManaging files with the support of junior resources in the team and attending court appearancesBriefing and liaising with counselCollaborating with other practice groups including Real Estate, Major Projects & Construction and Environment & Sustainable DevelopmentAttendance at mediation, court hearings and reviewsSkills & Experience To be successful in this role, you will have:
At least 5 years post admission experienceExperience in planning and acquisition in a private practice or in-house environment (litigation, property, and/or government experience would be advantageous)Superior written and verbal expression skills and an aptitude for reshaping and expressing complex concepts conciselyA naturally collegiate mindset and positive and enthusiastic attitude, which prioritises respect for peers and collaborative working.In addition to this, we're looking for a resilient, self-starter; someone who is able to work autonomously and is focused on attention to detail and providing outstanding service to our clients.The Public Sector team Our national Public Sector group is widely regarded to be the premier private government practice in Australia and has a wealth of industry-leading practitioners. Our Public Sector team advises a wide range of government agencies on some of their most complex and sensitive programs, from project inception through to contract management. We use our skills to solve complex legal problems, assist with the development and implementation of program strategy, and inform policy development.
