Reporting to the Managing Principal Lawyer, the role will provide high quality legal and strategic advice and support for investigations, including natural justice processes associated with special reports/publications.Duties include:Provide oral and written legal advice to the Operations Division and other business units within IBAC as necessary.Assist in the preparation of applications and supporting documentation for the use of coercive and specialist investigative powers.Consider, assess and respond to issues concerning IBAC's statutory and compliance obligations under the IBAC Act or any other laws relevant to the investigative process (such as the laws relating to surveillance devices and telecommunication interception).Draft high-level reports and maintain policies, procedures and systems regarding IBAC's use of investigative tools.Additional duties are set out in the position description.Experience and Capabilities:At least 5 years post admission experience.Experience in regulatory law, litigation, or criminal law is preferred.Due to the requirement to attain a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance, candidates must be an Australian citizen at the time of application.Due to a conflict-of-interest, IBAC is unable to accept applications for secondment from Victoria Police employees.Apply NowAll applications should include:A resume (no longer than 5 typed pages)Responses to the administrative screening questions within the application processPDF documents are preferred.
