Our Senior Lawyer will work closely with the Manager Legal Services and Lawyer in the provision of legal advice to Council. The team support the entire organisation and oversee the external briefing of legal representatives engaged on behalf of council.
Key responsibilities of the role will include providing legal advice in the areas of planning, enforcement, property and contract law and other general legal advice as council requires from time to time.
ABOUT YOU The successful candidate will have completed a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree with a minimum of five (5) years post admission experience in one or more relevant practice areas in private practice, as in-house counsel, as a government lawyer or in a similar role. The successful candidate will hold or be eligible to hold a Corporate Practicing Certificate in the State of Tasmania.Possess extensive demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the legislative framework within which council operates.Have a proven ability to interpret complex legislation, By-Laws and court decisions and undertake complex legal research in relation to council matters.Possess an ability to work effectively to contribute towards team and corporate outcomes and build collaborative relationships.WHAT WE OFFER YOU The role is ongoing and full-time. A base salary between $116,378.92 and $127,608.44 will be negotiated with the preferred candidate + 12.5% superannuation and a 19-day month. A guaranteed 2.5% salary increase applies to this salary (or CPI) in July 2024.

We have an opportunity for an organised and efficient person to join us as a Grants Administrator, which is a newly created role within our Finance team. This position does not require you to write grants, but is responsible for the day-to-day operations of grants received or provided by council. This will include identifying opportunities to fund projects from council's long term capital program, as well as support for operational projects.
We are looking for a candidate with excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with managers and teams, providing advice and guidance on financial aspects of grant applications. The position will coordinate all external grant applications submitted by council and act as the first point of contact for external funding issues.
ABOUT YOU Extensive experience in grant and/or project management with sound knowledge and experience in, sourcing, planning, implementing, and evaluating funding for projects including the coordination of grant applications.An understanding and knowledge of council's Grants and Sponsorship Policy 2023.Strong time management and organisational skills, demonstrating an ability to prioritise workloads and meet competing deadlines.Adaptable and resilient, with experience working through challenges, and an ability to persist in the face of significant, complex challenges.Well-developed interpersonal skills including negotiation and the ability to adjust communication and tactics or priorities in response to the organisation or audience requirements.WHAT WE OFFER YOU A base salary between $91,878.09 and $101,574.29 will be negotiated with the preferred candidate + 12.5% superannuation and a 19-day month. A guaranteed 2.5% salary increase applies to this salary (or CPI) in July 2024.
