Join our Team as a Senior Investigator/Conciliator!
Are you passionate about human rights and eager to lead a dedicated team? The Investigation and Conciliation Service (ICS) plays a vital role in addressing complaints of unlawful discrimination and human rights breaches under Australia's federal law. We offer accessible, fair, and impartial complaint-handling services, alongside community education initiatives that empower individuals to understand their rights and responsibilities.
About the Role: As a Senior Investigator/Conciliator, you will provide assistance to the Principal Investigator/Conciliator in relation to the coordination of a team of Investigators/Conciliators to ensure exceptional service delivery while managing complex complaints. Your leadership will be crucial in mentoring staff, guiding investigations, and fostering an environment of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership: Support the Principal Investigator/Conciliator in coordinating your team's activities, prioritizing new complaints, and ensuring strategic management of cases. Mentor team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Investigation & Conciliation: Conduct investigations and conciliations of complex complaints under federal human rights and discrimination law, preparing briefs and correspondence for the President or their Delegate.
Policy Development: Contribute to refining the ICS's practices and procedures, ensuring best practices in complaint handling.
Training & Education: Engage in community education and assist in developing training programs to enhance understanding of human rights.
Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the ICS at meetings, conferences, and seminars, promoting our mission and fostering partnerships.
Who You Are:
You possess significant knowledge of human rights issues and federal anti-discrimination law.
You have significant experience in statutory investigations and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), with a proven ability to analyse complex information.
You excel in leadership, able to mentor other officers while managing a high-volume workload effectively.
Your communication skills are exceptional, allowing you to connect with diverse stakeholders with respect and empathy.
Requirements:
Tertiary qualifications or equivalent relevant experience.
Compliance with the APS Code of Conduct and the Commission's policies.
Commitment to promoting a respectful and inclusive workplace.
