Senior Information Security Engineer

Be a key technical resource to the team to support technical changes and provide security advice to the project.
BackgroundLegal Aid Queensland has recognised the need to uplift its cyber security profile and has approved a project to commence the implementation of the recommended risk treatments. The objective being to provide increased protection of its digital assets and reduce the risk and impact of a significant cyber incident.
As such it is seeking a Senior Information Security Engineer to act as subject matter expert in relation to:
Cyber security advice and practical solutions to ICT staff, project staff, senior management and key stakeholders.The development of information/cyber security related policies, procedures, standards, controls, guidelines and strategies that cover diverse business and system environments.Network Security and Vulnerability ManagementCompliance Awareness: Understanding of international & local compliance standardsContributes to other information security incident response and disaster recovery planning and related activities.Provide coaching and guidance to the wider team, promoting best practice and process improvement to support ongoing security growth.Role RequirementsThe Security Engineer will collaborate with stakeholders and the project team to develop and review project artefacts such as policies, operational procedures, checklists and guidelines.
They will be a key technical resource to the team to support technical changes and provide security advice to the project to achieve the desired outcomes and help manage risks. They will use data-driven insights to inform decisions and offer recommendations for better project outcomes. Relevant security certifications will be highly regarded (E.g. CISM, CISP, OWASP, COMPTIA -Security+).
Additionally, they will possess strong communication skills to share information/cyber security related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical stakeholders and developing information/cyber security awareness training and messages.
