The Role The Senior HIM and Clinical Coding Lead is a permanent, full-time role with hybrid work flexibility from our North Sydney HQ. This role is part of a highly professional team of people who are passionate about using quality clinical data to improve health outcomes and patient care.
The successful candidate will be responsible for championing our coding products, continuously listening to client feedback and understanding the market, supporting the development of our coding product roadmap and articulating the business need for new features and enhancements. This pivotal role will provide expert advice internally and externally to clients on health information management and coding best practices, ensure alignment of our products with industry standards and regulations, and lead client facing initiatives to improve clinical coding and data quality.
Job DescriptionThe Role in Practice The Senior HIM and Clinical Coding Lead will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, sales, marketing, and the data and insights team, to support seamless operations of our coding products and successful product delivery. Some of the key accountabilities include:
Being the Product Owner for Beamtree's core coding products (PICQ, RISQ, Integrated Coding Platform (assisted coding) and Autonomous Coding)Champion and promote Beamtree's coding products internally and externally at industry networking events, conferences (domestically and internationally) and other active marketing opportunitiesAdvise on and direct the development and enhancement of Beamtree's coding products and roadmap, including product development for emerging global marketsEnsure products maintain currency for classification markets and remain competitive, adaptable and current through anticipating change to market conditions and business requirementsPromote Beamtree's coding products and support business development activities, including communicating business needs with a strong understanding of the market, demonstrating the value of our products, and assisting with product proposalsLead a team of Coding Product Specialists (HIMs and Clinical Coders), and HIM & Coding SMEs, including communicating priorities, assisting with client liaison and decision making for productsSupport the delivery of onsite or remote health information and clinical coding advisory and auditing projects, including reporting and presenting on audit findings and recommendations for quality improvement to various stakeholdersProvide expert advice and consultation to clients on health information management, clinical coding, and data quality improvementSupport new client onboarding, implement and manage a training and education framework for all coding products, and deliver training and education to internal teams and clientsCommunicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutionsApply continuous quality improvement strategies to all aspects of workSupport requests for tenders and other health information activities across Beamtree as required.Desired Skills and ExperienceWho Are You? To be successful in this role, you will have:
Minimum of 10 years Health Information Management/clinical coding experience with exposure to a diverse casemixRelevant Health Information Management and clinical coding qualificationsEligible for full membership to the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA)La Trobe University Auditing Course qualifications or equivalent tertiary qualificationsPrevious auditing, training and education experience in coding highly desirable, with well-developed written communication and presentation skillsComprehensive knowledge, experience, and proficiency in clinical classification of medical records in ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS and AR-DRG, and Activity Based Funding principlesDemonstrated experience with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePointExtensive experience with using or supporting PICQ and RISQ highly desirableEffective leadership and team collaboration skills, with strong communication and interpersonal skillsSelf-directed, motivated, and committed to self-improvementExcellent organisation and time management abilities, while maintaining strong attention to detail and commitment to qualityStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAble to prioritise and organise workload effectively and efficiently.Why Join Us?
