About the role This position is responsible for providing specialised heritage advice and technical assessment relating to statutory and strategic development proposals and policy within the Directorate.
This position will also ensure design excellence is realised when considering development in or around a heritage item, conservation areas, archaeological sites or places of aboriginal significance.
Key responsibilities include, not limited to; Provide high quality, timely, and practical heritage advice in respect of pre-lodgement meeting requests, development applications, heritage minor works applications, assessment of local heritage grant applications, compliance matters, planning proposals and review of strategic documents.
Communicate effectively, and appropriately with a broad spectrum of internal and external customers.
Attend and present heritage issues and advice at Heritage Advisory Committee meetings, Council planning panels and other respectable meetings.
Prepare submissions, grant applications, annual acquittals and reports as required that respond to a range of heritage conservation and related issues.
Make recommendations on heritage matters to be incorporated into policies, codes or planning instruments.
Work closely with the Strategy, Design Excellence and Planning teams in relation to projects relating to heritage conservation.
Promote and maintain effective relationships with all external business partners including community organisations, contractors, State and Federal authorities.
About You The successful candidate should have previous demonstrated experience in heritage conservation, design, development and assessment.
You will also bring: Degree qualifications in Urban Planning or Architecture, Specialising in Heritage Conservation or a related discipline.
Current Class C NSW drivers' licence.
Significant experience in a political environment would be an advantage NSW Heritage Office State Heritage Inventory (SHI) computer database software (desirable) Exceptional experience in promoting and communicating heritage conservation.
What's on offer We are offering an attractive remuneration from $125,996 to $138,699 plus 11.5% superannuation.
