Job Title: Senior Financial Accountant
Employment Type: Full time
Salary: $108,109.00 to $116,864 per annum + superannuation
The Courts Administration Authority (CAA) is constituted by the Courts Administration Act 1993. The Act established the State Courts Administration Council as an administrative authority independent of control by executive government, conferring on the Council the power to provide courts with the administrative facilities and services necessary for the proper administration of justice.
Participating courts of the Authority include the Supreme Court, District Court, Environment, Resources and Development Court, Youth Court, Magistrates Court, and the Coroners Court.
The Business and Financial Services Branch delivers strategic finance advice and operations, including financial accounting and management accounting services, to ensure the CAA operates within a financial framework that achieves its strategic objectives. It also provides financial governance that complies with relevant legislation, directions, and determinations from the Treasurer and other applicable whole-of-government policies. The branch provides centralized budget management, finance and accounting services, finance business partnering, procurement services, business reporting, internal audit, and corporate governance and risk management for the CAA.
The Senior Financial Accountant is a key member of the CAA management accounting team and is responsible for the preparation of annual financial statements, Goods and Services Tax and Fringe Benefits Tax returns, and the provision of specialist financial advice and assistance, including advice on accounting policies and procedures, taxation legislation, and Australian Accounting Standards. This position is located in the Business and Financial Services Branch of the Corporate Services Division.
Special Conditions: Appointment is under the Courts Administration Act 1993. Terms and Conditions of employment are governed by the Public Sector Act 2009. Appointment is dependent upon a current National Police Certificate that the CAA finds satisfactory. As a justice agency, the CAA may receive details of spent convictions as part of any Criminal History Screening and use this information in the selection process. Requirements: Must have an appropriate tertiary qualification in an accounting or related discipline such as commerce, business, or finance and eligibility for CPA/CA or progression towards this qualification.
