The opportunity The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for overseeing monthly balance sheet reviews, managing royalty accounting, and preparing cash flow forecasts.
This role requires ensuring financial accuracy, timely reporting, and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
The Financial Accountant will also play a key role in supporting month-end close processes, preparing royalty reports, and monitoring the company's liquidity through cash flow management.
Key Responsibilities Monthly Balance Sheet Review: Perform in-depth monthly reviews of the balance sheet to ensure all accounts are reconciled, accurately reported, and in compliance with GAAP/IFRS.
Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or unusual account balances, ensuring appropriate adjustments are made.
Collaborate within the finance department to address and resolve accounting issues related to the balance sheet.
Royalty Accounting: Manage and oversee the accurate calculation, recording, and reporting of royalties in line with contract agreements.
Maintain and reconcile royalty liabilities and ensure timely payments to partners, artists, or licensors.
Maintain and update royalty schedules, ensuring all royalty agreements are adhered to and properly reflected in the financial statements.
Liaise with contracts teams to understand royalty agreements and any changes impacting accounting treatment.
Cash Flow Preparation and Analysis: Maintain monthly cash flow forecasts to support liquidity management and planning.
Monitor actual cash flows against forecasts, analyse variances, and provide recommendations for improving cash flow management.
Prepare and assist in developing cash management strategies, including managing working capital and optimizing cash positions.
Month-End, Financial Reporting and Compliance: Month-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
Prepare financial reports related to balance sheets and royalties for management review.
Ensure compliance with applicable financial reporting standards (GAAP/IFRS) and internal accounting policies.
Assist during audits and responding to audit queries.
Process Improvement and System Support: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of balance sheet reviews, royalty accounting, and cash flow preparation.
Collaborate with IT and systems teams to improve reporting systems related to financial accounting and royalty tracking.
Ad-Hoc Projects: Provide support on special projects such as system upgrades, new royalty agreements, and cash management initiatives.
Assist the Senior Finance team with ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required.
Skills & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial accounting, with specific experience in balance sheet reviews.
Strong understanding of GAAP/IFRS accounting standards and proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
