About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join our finance team. This role will play a critical part in ensuring AEG's compliance with financial, tax, and legal responsibilities. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting, internal controls, and process improvements, while also supporting business decision-making through timely financial insights.
Key Responsibilities:
As our Senior Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for assisting with the financial management of the business including:
Extensive experience preparing, reviewing, and reporting financial and tax information, ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations and maintaining updated financial processes in Promapp.
Proven ability to enforce internal controls to minimize fraud risk, including regular updates to the Internal Control Framework.
Demonstrated success in implementing process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce manual tasks, lower costs, and enhance financial data accuracy.
Expertise in preparing monthly financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, along with supporting variance analysis for informed business decisions.
Strong leadership in managing month-end processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and adherence to accounting standards (AASB16).
Experience acting as the finance liaison for property portfolios and supporting statutory financial statements, audits, and cash flow forecasting.
Proven collaboration with external auditors and management of tax submissions (BAS, FBT, ATO reporting).
Experience preparing annual tax return documentation and supporting the Group's tax governance framework.
Ability to coach and mentor finance team members to drive continuous improvement and develop solutions for financial challenges.
Qualifications & Experience:
Professional accounting qualification with proven understanding of financial systems
5+ years' experience in Financial Accounting
Post qualified experience in a similar role is an advantage (desirable)
