Senior Finance Accountant

The Position:
Join our dynamic Finance team at Compass Group Australia, where your senior technical accounting expertise will directly contribute to our financial sustainability. In this essential role, you'll partner with the Manager – General Finance to enhance our financial control framework, manage the annual audit and report, and oversee cash flow and balance sheet management for the Australian Group. Play a vital role in supporting the Manager – Finance to successfully complete the annual audit and prepare Compass Group Australia's financial statements, making a direct impact on our financial integrity.
Provide technical accounting advice on capital decisions, lease accounting, working capital management, mergers & acquisitions, and provision standards.
Serve as the subject matter expert on Group Accounting Policy, offering guidance to the Finance team as needed.
Prepare balance sheet and operating cash flow budgets and forecasts, with ongoing reporting of actuals.
Handle month-end reporting, including the preparation and review of journals.
Manage ongoing balance sheet activities, including monthly review of key reconciliations.
Oversee fixed asset management, ensuring correct classification and accounting treatment for new assets and improvements.
Assist the Manager – Finance in overseeing the performance of the offshore and onshore general finance teams, focusing on process improvement, training, and direction.
Continuously improve key financial controls and related policies and processes.
Develop strong relationships with fellow team members to foster a culture of financial and operational excellence with a can-do, proactive approach.
Build and leverage effective stakeholder relationships to achieve business objectives.
The Person:
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, CPA or CA qualified with a minimum of 4 years experience.
Direct experience in Assurance or Accounting from a large accounting firm or corporate environment.
Demonstrate strong technical knowledge and sound understanding of IFRS.
Excellent verbal and written communication, combined with strong analytical and influencing skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Demonstrates a proactive approach with a high level of autonomy and accountability.
Strong coordination and teamwork with an emphasis on striving for continuous improvements.
Ability to problem solve, prioritise and multi-task.
Advanced computer skills, mainly with PowerPoint and Excel.
